We just got the exact same letter, and we nearly paid it until i got it between my fingers. I spotted the scam, and got it confirmed by a google search.
Chockingly well placed scam :-/

My wife received this letter – fortunately I work in business and regularly get similar-looking documents (usually to be registered on a CD or business book in Geneva) – they scream SCAM (they are aimed at junior clerks in accounts who may assume they are valid accounts for work the company has done). I have a full drawer of such.

It will be almost impossible to get the money back – the firm will do exactly what it says it will do – and you have a legally binding contract (offer | acceptance | performance)

There are all sorts of scammers pulling this trick. I always respond by sending them an empty envelope (or two) without postage so they have to pay the excess.

in the middle of the chaos surrounding any invention, and national, european and american patents involved, a letter like this seems quite sensible — everybody requires lots of money, everything takes a lot of time, etc.

fortunately I noticed the small print and asked my legal advisor! pure chance — but it could had nappened otherwise and be a member of the group trying to recover some money

I just re’d from “ODM” an offcial looking letter with our trademark design; as I work in a bank, the letter looked extemely suspect, and if you read the content carefully, you will see several misspelled words, and sentences that don’t make much sense, and a foreign bank and address,all red flags that scream “fraud”—DON’T fall for this!!
Hopefully your bank will question this transaction, if you go to them to wire the money!

I have also sent money. And now i’m trying to get it back. I have contacted my bank, and send them all the necessary information. Now it’s my banks fraud department contacting the bank of the scammers. But it seems it will take several days/weeks before they will know more.
I suggest you do the same: contact your bank advisor/ banks fraud department and ask for refund
